Completed the westonbirt triathlon on 29th May, along with Jo and Lucy, it was lucy's first triathlon. Lucy loved it and is already planning her next one. It was a great event, Jo finished 4th lady. Highly recommended.
Due to Jo and I's long bike ride coming up, we decided to go for a long bike ride the next day on the 30th May. the weather was horrible, it rained all day. It was good training as it will rain at some point over the 11days while we are doing the LEJOG. We managed 96 miles, we had to do an out and back route as our plan was to follow national cycle route 45 through Swindon, but we lost the signs in an housing estate on the outskirts of Swindon and had to cycle back the way we came.

Running 26 marathons one for each letter of the alphabet is the challenge, in Memory of my brother Ian pictured above. Who died after a three year fight with a brain tumour which is why I am raising money for thebraintumourcharity.org the challenge has been tough with injuries and having children, twin boys born August 2015 it has become an even bigger challenge than I first envisaged. AFC WIMBLEDON
Not much training this weekend as Jo and I went to Manchester to see the blue square premier play off final, between Luton and AFC Wimbledon. My Mum and Dad plus Angela (my sister in-law) were there too. AFC Wimbledon won 4-3 on penalties. My Brother (Ian) and I were there at the start 9 years ago, when AFC Wimbledon formed, so to see them enter the football league, was an emotional experience.

Not long to LEJOG
Have started long bike rides, 74 miles last weekend and 94 this weekend, I have cycled to my placement a few times, which is 26 miles a day. I went swimming this morning, but in general my training has been limited at best, I am finding my placement hard and been a bit down recently, which makes motoivtion to get out and do exercise difficult to come by.
On the positive side AFC Wimbledon are in the Blue square premier play off final against Luton on the 21st May at the city of Manchester stadium, Ian would have been so excited, looking forward to going to match with Jo, my Mum and Dad and Angela my sister-in-law.

Training up-date 1/5/11
I have not been able to do much training recently and it looks like, I will struggle in the near future too, I have loads of uni work to do :-( I did manage to get my first open water swim of the year on Sunday 30th April, in the lido pictured above, it is a sectioned off bit in London's Hyde Park, Serpentine lake. It was weird swimming in central London, but a great experience

The run was hard and it took 6 hours, but as you can see the views were amazing. It was an event that will stay with me for the rest of my life. There are videos of the event, I had difficulty down loading them on my blog, but they are on you tube, if you look for exmoor marathon you should find them, or alternatively if you type in alphabetmarathons you should find my channel.

Training update 3/4/11
Jo and I's planning for Lands End to John O Groats (LEJOG) is starting to take shape above is my high visible jacket, for the long cycle ride. My Mum and Dad have been fantastic, with my Mum taking Jo and I plus our bikes to Lands End and my Mum and Dad are meeting us at John O Groats and are going to take our bikes back, this help and support is much appreciated.
Above picture is the water tower where we meet for the Sunday run with the club.
Picture of the suspension bridge in the distance, from the towpath
view of the gorge from just out side Leigh Woods
View as we are just about to run onto the suspension bridge
The run today was hard, we ran farther, about 16 miles and faster than I wanted too. It was an enjoyable run though mainly down to Bristol been a great city to run in and having fantastic people to run with. Only two weeks to my E Exmoor marathon on the 16th April, it is going to be a hard run and probably take around 6 hours.
It is starting to get warmer, so I need a shave and a haircut
